The
Old Testament in an Hour!
This interesting and lively lesson is a visual,
written, spoken and tasty opportunity to help students learn
the different sections of the Old Testament and remember the
location of individual books in each section. Interesting and
unique word memory aids are used to help students remember the
names and order of books as they gain confidence in navigating
the Old Testament
The
five sections of the Old Testament are:
- The 5 Books of Law,
- The 12 Books of History,
- The 5 Books of Poetry,
- The 5 Books of the Major
Prophets, and
- The 12 Books of the Minor
Prophets.
Look in the Book:
Students
are to read John 6, 7, and 8. Stories and topics include:
Jesus feeds the 5,000 people, Jesus walks on water, Jesus
forgives the woman caught in adultery, and Jesus is called the
light of the world.
Discover it
Daily:
Students reinforce what they learned through the
lesson as they find and read well-known passages from each
section: the Ten
Commandments from the books of Law, the story of Ruth from the
History section, a chapter in Proverbs and Psalms in the
Poetry section, verses from Isaiah 40 in the Major Prophets,
and Jonah from the Minor Prophets. They test themselves as
they complete a blank chart of “The Books of the Old
Testament,” using their notes if necessary.
